WHAT TO EXPECTโฆ
With an emphasis on ensuring you have an understanding of your injury, and a strong focus on injury prevention, Physiotherapists at The Injury Clinic Geelong aim to not only address your current injury, but ensure that you are in the best place possible to stay healthy and achieve your goals.
DONโT CHASE THE SYMPTOMS. HUNT THE CAUSE.
Some injuries are more complex than others. The cause or โdriverโ of an injury can be at a site far from the location of pain. Whilst addressing the local site of discomfort may result in some symptomatic relief, it often doesnโt address the reason an injury occurred in the first place. Injury prevention. Itโs important.
Most of the time, an area or tissue (muscle, tendon, bone), will become symptomatic if it is loaded adversely. Whilst the pain may be at the local site of the tissue, there are many factors that contribute to why it may have experienced loading beyond what it is capable of managing.
These contributing factors can include: tightness; weakness; biomechanical variations; joint restrictions; individual anatomy; poorly designed training programs; significant increases in activityโฆthe list goes on.
If the factors contributing to an injury are not addressed, there is a good chance it will reoccur, either in the same or a different location. Not all contributing factors are modifiable, but some most definitely are.
At The Injury Clinic we will hunt the cause and not get distracted by the symptoms. So, if youโre struggling to get on top of an injury or have been experiencing recurrent nigglesโฆcome and let us work with you to hunt the cause.
