At The Injury Clinic we know that being a mum presents some very real challenges when it comes to exercise. Not only are there significant physical changes that have happened to your body, but you also have to try and find the time to exercise! As every woman, pregnancy and birth is different, we can expect each woman to have a different post partum experience too.
With this in mind, we have decided to facilitate a Mums and Bubs gym session each Tuesday and Thursday. Since having her twins, our physiotherapist Liz recognises the physical, mental and emotional challenges that come with strength and fitness in the post partum period; and as a Physio, she recognises post partum women need expert guidance to ensure a successful return to strength and fitness. We also know that it is hard to schedule time to get into the gym, so have opened up these sessions for Mums to bring their babies along to!
Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 10am
Babies and small children are welcome to these sessions, however, they will remain your responsibility while you complete your program.
We ask that you have an appointment with Liz, one of our Physios prior to coming into a session. In this appointment, Liz will be able to check your abdominal separation and develop a strength program for you. From there, Liz will be able to discuss with you the best way to progress your program depending on what your goals are.
Each person working in the gym will have their own program to complete at their own pace. We feel this works well as it means if you need to stop and tend to your child you are able to pick up at the same spot rather than missing out on part of a class.
