RETURN TO SPRINT AT TIC GEELONG

Our Geelong Strength Coaches offer Return to Sprinting Programs to bridge the gap between returning to run after injury and regaining top end speed and max velocity running.

 

Who’s it for?

TIC Return to Sprinting Programs are encouraged for:

  • Athletes returning from injury (**injured athletes must meet the criteria below before commencing)
  • Athletes from team-based sports returning after off-season, or looking to focus on sprinting in pre-season
  • New athletes looking to build into sprinting safely

 

What’s included?

  • An 8-week progressive sprinting program that is individualised based on you, your injury history, your level of experience and your goals
  • Speed drills; These are demonstrated and taught to ensure these skills are developed from the beginning of the program
  • Education, advice and drills regarding key acceleration mechanics
  • Education, advice and drills to address top speed mechanics at different speeds and intensities
  • Ongoing communication with your coach and other health professionals (if applicable)

RETURN TO SPRINT PROGRAMS @ TIC

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • A detailed return to sprint plan with structured stages
  • These sessions are not coached by our Strength and Conditioning coaches
  • Individualised sessions for different events 
  • Clear goals for each phase

 

PROGRAM GOALS

  • Guiding client/athlete safely to returning to sprint
  • Graded exposure to maximal intensity 
  • Achieving pain free maximal velocity sprinting.
  • Getting you back to your training with your coach

 

COST & SESSIONS

  • 3-5 x 30min consults; $80 per consult (*number of consults dependent on progress and goals)
  • Initial Consult: Discussion regarding goals, injury history, training load etc; Initial phase planning
  • Subsequent Consults: Program review; Program adjustments and progressions; Return to full sprinting

 

EACH CONSULT INCLUDES:

  • Thorough planning of each phase including and education regarding inclusions, goals of phases and rationale
  • Comprehensive warm-up and sprint drill education and demonstration
  • Education regarding tissue loading across phases
  • Clear goals and objectives for each session

 

 

POST INJURY RETURN TO SPRINT PROGRAMS

IF YOU HAVE sustained a running-related injury in the last 3 months, you are required to meet the following criteria before commencing a return to sprint program:

  1. Completion of a Return to Run protocol prescribed by a physiotherapist
  2. Be able to run a total of 15 minutes of pain-free in one session
  3. Your intentions to commence a return to sprint program under the guidance of a TIC strength coach must be communicated with your current coach (if applicable)

 

**IF YOU ARE NOT CURRENTLY INJURED, AND HAVE BEEN INJURY FREE FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS, NO CRITERIA TO COMMENCE IS REQUIRED.
