STRENGTH PROGRAMS AT THE INJURY CLINIC
The benefits of strength training for injury prevention are immeasurable. Strength Training is hugely advantageous when considering improvements in general wellbeing, injury prevention, performance gains etc.
Resistance training is one of the best ways to ensure our tissues (muscle, tendon, bone) remain healthy. When you are able to move and function well, your risk of injury will decrease.
When you enlist the help of our trained professionals at The Injury Clinic for your strength training and injury prevention, you’ll start your journey to potentially gaining the following:
Muscle mass: Inactivity and aging can result in declines in muscle mass. Improving muscle mass can help manage and prevent injury.
Flexibility: Our lives often aren’t conducive to maintaining flexibility. We need to be able to move well to manage and prevent injuries. Strength training and eccentric exercises have been shown to be incredibly effective in improving passive muscle length and therefore flexibility.
Bone strength: Bone health is incredibly important, and becomes increasingly important the older we get. Increasing bone density through strength training will aid in reducing the risk of fractures and other bone tissue injuries.
The Strength & Conditioning programs and injury prevention strategies that you will receive during your visit to The Injury Clinic Physiotherapy are designed by a qualified and experienced Strength Coach.
The team at The Injury Clinic appreciate that all our clients are different, with different goals, aims, strengths and weaknesses. In consideration of this, we have deliberately avoided the model of a generic one-size fits all class environment to ensure that every client benefits as much as they can from their commitment to health and well-being. No matter what you need to work on from a strength perspective, with a tailored injury prevention program you will see results that you desire.
Major muscle groups and large joints like your hips, knees and shoulders are areas of the body that can benefit from strength training for injury prevention. The most common injuries that can occur during exercise or playing sports are generally able to be avoided by maintaining optimal strength and fitness.
All our Strength Programs are individually designed by our Strength Coach and are reviewed every 4 weeks to ensure continued progression towards your goals. Your gym program can be completed at The Injury Clinic, or at a facility of your choosing. We offer both supervised session times to complete your program under the guidance of our Strength Coach, and independent training times to complete your program on your own.
The Injury Clinic provides Gym Memberships that include strength training program design, program progressions; supervised gym times and a fun, non-threatening environment to complete your program.
STRENGTH PROGRAMS AT THE INJURY CLINIC: WHAT TO EXPECT
INITIAL CONSULT: Ben will discuss with you your goals, aims, injury history etc. He will then start the process of developing an individual injury prevention and management program that is specific to you and your goals. You will spend time both discussing your goals etc. and in the gym to assist Ben in developing a program that best suits you.
FOLLOW-UP PROGRAMMING CONSULT: Following the design of your injury prevention and management program, you will be required to book a review consult that allows your program to be completed in full under the guidance and supervision of Ben.
Following the design of your strength program, you will have the option of joining a membership at the clinic, or consulting with Ben for programming and completing your strength training at another gym. Please see below for more information regarding these two options.
