Our Dietitian will give you the knowledge and tools you require to implement targeted nutrition strategies to help improve your overall health and wellbeing or athletic performance. They can save you time and stress when it comes to food and give you practical suggestions that suit your lifestyle.

OUR ACCREDITED PRACTISING DIETITIAN, ALICE WILL:

  • Discuss your nutrition related aims and goals
  • Discuss your lifestyle and personal circumstances including work/study, who does the shopping and cooking, any exercise or training you are undertaking
  • Collect information on your current medical history (including medications, recent blood work, bowel habits, menstruation and supplement use)
  • If appropriate, discuss weight and weight history
  • Complete a thorough assessment of your dietary intake, including habits, likes and dislikes 
  • Provide nutrition education and advice to meet your goals, with an emphasis on providing practical and simple suggestions tailored specifically to your needs and goals. This may include providing infographics and recipes. 
  • For those who require a personalised nutrition meal plan may also be included at an additional cost to the consultation.

CASE STUDY:

Kevin is a 38 year old male who presented wanting to lose 10kg gained over the last 5 years since having children. He works a desk based job and exercise has been limited in this time but is also keen to re-engage. Kevin shares the cooking with his wife. Kevin reported that there are many foods he doesn’t like. Kevin’s desire to feel confident in himself and be able to look after his children are his motivating factors. 

In this scenario a topics covered and recommendation would include:

  • Education around energy density and nutrient density of foods and how to portion meals to suit his goals (resources provided)
  • 5 Practical tips to implement to reduce energy intake based on current dietary preferences 
  • Referral to strength and conditioning coach 

A follow up session would entail:

  • Assessment of current progress, appropriate changes to energy intake as needed 
  • Focus on trying 1-2 new food each week to increase variety of foods consumed 
  • Providing recipes 

CASE STUDY:

Jess is a 27 year old female who presented wanting to improve her energy levels and ensure her nutrition was supporting her training. Jess runs 3 days per week and attends the gym twice per week. She has coeliac disease, low iron and lives with her partner. She is the main cook in the home and works as a nurse. Jess wants to improve her energy levels so she no longer feels so tired, particularly when she trains after work, her goal next year is to complete a half marathon. 

In this scenario a topics covered and recommendation would include:

  • Education around how to improve iron intake and the importance of adequate energy intake to support needs (resources provided)
  • Suggestions of an additional gluten free snack to help Jess meet her energy needs 

A follow up session would entail:

  • Assessment of current progress, suggest appropriate changes to energy intake as needed 
  • Education on best practice for fuelling prior to exercise (provide resource)
  • Suggestions of gluten free friendly pre exercise fuelling ideas.
