The goal of a running analysis is to identify aspects of your technique that may be contributing to injury or impacting efficiency.
If you are experiencing issues with increasing your running load, have noticed a plateau in performance or are experiencing a recurrent or persistent running related injury, then a running analysis may be just what you need!
Running analysis at The Injury Clinic involves a few steps and is conducted by across two consultations by one of our physiotherapists with a special interest in running injuries.
Pre-screening Questionnaire
You will be provided with a pre-screening questionnaire prior to attending your analysis. This provides our physiotherapists with valuable information regarding goals of analysis, injury history, training volume etc.; this allows us to collect meaningful footage on the day and link analysis findings back to the goals of your analysis.
Consultation 1 (up to 30 minutes, $125 fee)
Your initial consultation involves having your running technique filmed with a high speed camera.
This is conducted by your physiotherapist at John Landy Athletics Field. Your physiotherapist may record you running from different angles and at different speeds.
If appropriate, your physiotherapist will film you running after being provided with a cue to assess its effect on your gait.
Depending on the goals of your analysis, you may be asked to run prior to your analysis to obtain footage of your running when you are fatigued, or symptomatic.
Consultation 2 (40 minutes, $110 fee)
A second consultation will be conducted in the clinic. Your physiotherapist will present a report with your findings and options for next steps in your management plan.
They may recommend the use of ongoing running cues, home or gym based exercises, modifications to your running program, or in-room physiotherapy treatment. This is done in collaboration with you to find the most suitable path moving forward.
Please note: We require at least 1 week between your 1st and 2nd consultations to process the footage and complete a report.
Footage is captured with a high speed camera and is reviewed through a specific program which allows detailed analysis. This enables your physiotherapist to look at the finer details of your running technique!

We may need to reschedule your consultation at Landy Field in certain circumstances:
